AT&T Takes on Mobile Safety: "Txting & Driving . . . It Can Wait"
| AT&T Takes on Mobile Safety: "Txting & Driving . . . It Can Wait" Posted: 09 Mar 2010 04:57 PM PST
Text Messages Can and Should Wait Until After Driving Our friends at AT&T launched a powerful public awareness campaign yesterday called "Txting & Driving ... It can Wait." The campaign raises awareness of the risks of texting while driving. AT&T's message is directed at all drivers, but especially to youth because they are just learning how to drive, and they are a very wired generation. A recent study by the Pew Internet Project reports that over 80 percent of teens ages 16 and 17 own a cell phone. The campaign features print, TV and radio spots with real stories from real people who share the text messages they sent or received before a loved one's life was altered or ended because they were sending or reading a text while driving. "We applaud AT&T for spreading this important message," said iKeepSafe president Marsali Hancock. "We encourage parents to share the video with their children to have a meaningful discussion about the consequences of texting while driving. Go with them to the 'It Can Wait" pledge on facebook and take the pledge together." The following video is one of the campaign's TV spots: Learn more about the "Txting & Driving" campaign by clicking here. ------- |
